Columbia, SC Becomes the First Columbia, SC: WOLO-TV, the ABC affiliate for South Carolinas largest city became the first television station in the U.S. to return a signed contract to Candlelight Entertainment for syndication rights to "Planning The Perfect Wedding." The programs debut will be January 16, 2000; it has been assigned a Sunday 12:30 p.m. time slot on the midlands area broadcaster. Were very excited to be in the market, Columbia is a great and vibrant city, with a varied population base, perfect for our show. As the center of State government, multiple universities, and a heavy military/industrial presence with signal reach to the outlying rural agricultural communities - Columbia is the perfect city. Columbia is a city often used as a test market for new products and services because it is so well rounded, I cant think of a place thats more appropriate to be first," said Executive Producer Michael Shortt. Richland and Lexington County will have a combined total of some 5,000 - 7,000 weddings next year, with average retail wedding spending representing over $192 million dollars. "Planning The Perfect Wedding" is dedicated to helping brides, grooms and their families learn as much as possible about the wedding planning process, how to make every dollar count and how to add that certain touch of elegance and style," says Shortt. "I have to credit WOLO-TVs General Sales Manager, Rigby Wilson, he realized how PTPW could be an important marketing tool for the station to a highly desirable target market. This is an opportunity to entertain and inform, but more importantly this program positions advertisers to the newly forming households segment that are looking for resources now, they arent just shopping around, they are buying products and services now!" said Tim Frame, Candlelight Entertainments Marketing Director.
